Offered is a Chicago White Sox batting practice jersey which dates to the final two years of southpaw knuckleballer Wilbur Wood's 17 year major league career. While gamers in the infamous softball style conceived of by legendary team owner Bill Veeck are a hard find, the batting practice versions turn up even less frequently. Speaking of rarity, Wood was about as rare as they come. In addition to being a lefthanded knuckleballer he also holds two "last" distinctions which will likely never be challenged in the era of modern pitcher usage as he was the last pitcher to start over 45 games and the last to throw over 345 innings in a single season.
1977-87 Rawlings size 46 tag sewn to the collar while the team name, player name and number are sewn to the white mesh jersey in navy tackle twill. Wood has also signed the front of the jersey in black marker along with his uniform number. Moderate to heavy use shown. (60N0066)
