While the New England Patriots are now regarded as one of football's best run organizations, there was a time when the Pats were at the bottom of the barrel.
Haling from the early '70s is this suspension helmet, which we are attributing the use to Ed Phillpott. "52" is markered into the inner ear hole in vintage pen. Phillpott was rostered with the Pats from 1967-71. The following players also wore the number after Phillpott's tenure was over - Roin Kadziel (1972) and Steve King (1973-81).
Outstanding use is exhibited on the white plastic shell and the decals show numerous abrasions and cuts from use. Red/blue/white striping runs from front to back. A Wilson warning sticker is affixed on the inside as is six-point suspension and the original leather jaw pads are featured. The back bumper has "Wilson Made in U.S.A F2011 7 3/8 CP" punched in.
