Consigned from a direct family member of the Jim Catfish Hunter family, this collection of three gloves were housed in Jim Hunter’s personal Oakland A’s footlocker which according to our consignor in great detail, was “stored in the middle bedroom” of the relatives house. It was stored in the house after Jim Hunter was declared a free agent and traded to the Yankees.

Included in the collection are three gloves. Included are:

(1) Catfish Hunter Wilson endorsed glove. The glove was owned, worn, and used by Hunter. It is a Wilson Best Sports signature advisor model. We do not believe this was worn in major league games, as it is one step below professional models that he was documented to have worn. It is a advisor staff model, and was given to him by Wilson. He may have used it in spring training or at his farm.

Lot of 2: This group is quite interesting. Our consignor states one of these two gloves were worn by Jim Pagliaroni to catch Hunter’s perfect game on May 8th, 1968. We have extensively researched these gloves and are convinced they are both 100% game worn and used to catch Hunter, but exact attribution to the perfect game could not be made due to lack of images.

The first glove, a Spalding Jim Pagliaroni 42-585 personal model has”Hunter” and “27” surrounded by a circle in black marker written on the glove. The glove webbing has been partially restrung, and shows heavy overall game wear.

The second, a MacGregor GP10 model, has “Jimmy Hunter” written in red ink on the outside thumb. That glove also shows heavy game wear.

It is our best guess that the Jim Pagliaroni model glove was the actual glove used to catch the No Hitter.

In an interview conducted with Sal Bando, who was both Jim Pagliaroni and Jim Hunter’s teammate, he specifically recalled that Jim Pagliaroni maintained a glove specifically for the days he had to catch Jim Hunter.
