Offered is a August 18, 1961 Life magazine featuring Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris on the cover with Babe Ruth lurking in the shadows. The magazine featured the chase of the two sluggers while they were chasing Ruth's single-season home run record. Maris eventually broke Ruth's record by hitting 61 home runs, which is still an American League record. Mantle finished the season with 54 while suffering a late season injury. The magazine is in Very Good-Excellent condition with creasing near the binding, slight paper loss and light scratching throughout. (55I0051)
