Winning a World Series Title is the pinnacle of achievement in baseball. The New York Yankees made a habit doing so, winning 26 World Series Titles. After coming off a World Series victory in 1956, the Yankees had their hands full with the Milwaukee Braves. After splitting the first two games, the Yankees made a statement in the third by winning 12-3 with two home runs from Tony Kubek. The Braves would regain their composure and go on to win the fourth and fifth games with a chance to clinch the title in the sixth game. The Yankees were able to rebound from their losses and force a seventh game in their home stadium. The home game for the Yankees turned out to be a 5-0 blowout in the Braves favor thanks to the arm of Lew Burdette who had a 0.67 ERA in the postseason. The Braves would defend their title in 1958 against the Yankees but would be unsuccessful; the Yankees would win four games to three. The 1957 World Series would be the only title to come to any Milwaukee team.

The majority of this twenty eight piece vintage photo lot features a jubilant Milwaukee Braves team celebrating on the mound after Lew Burdette's stellar performance in game seven. Also included in this lot are locker room shots for both teams as well as images from the games.

Most the photos measure 8" x 10". First generation photos, with the following notations on reverse: Multiple photographers credited, affixed negatives, editor's markings, The Sporting News hologram, 1957. (01764)
