From the personal collection of Honus Wagner. This leather book is embossed, “Diary 1905, Marine Oil Col, 1805-7 Beaver Ave., Allegheny, PA. and gold embossed, “Marine Oil Co., Manufacturer of High Grade Lubrication Oils and Greases”. 84 pages in all, with the majority having hand written notes and messages from Honus Wagner.
Some interesting passages include:
Carnegie BB Team with players listed including “Al Wagner” (brother) and H Wagner (himself). The main interior page has a pre-printed form which includes an entry which reads, “My Name Is….” and Wagner wrote “JH Wagner” in pencil followed by My Address.. “Carnegie, Penn”. Dozens of others pages includes hand written notes from Wagner.
Also included is an original 3”x4” photo of Wagner wearing a top hat taken later in life while a coach for the Pirates which was kept inside the book. Originated from the Honus Wagner estate via Hunt Auctions. LOA MEARS.
